Java Developer (Prague)

We're ProRocketeers — an Ostrava-based company and a laid-back team of about 50 developers who've been building custom software solutions since 2018. We're currently expanding into Prague, where we're looking for more Rocketeers to join the crew.

We work in small Scrum teams on projects across many industries — from banking to e-commerce to healthcare. Right now we're growing the team with a Java developer who'll join projects for leading players in the financial sector — banks, payment gateways and fintech companies.

What you'll do

• Design and build backend services and APIs in a microservice architecture
• Work on the server-side of applications in Java / Kotlin and Spring Boot
• Contribute to frontend development in React, TypeScript and Next.js as needed
• Help shape application architecture and take code review seriously
• Write unit and integration tests as a natural part of development, not an afterthought
• Collaborate in an agile team

Must-haves

• Solid experience with Java (3+ years)
• Knowledge of microservice architecture and REST APIs
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar)
• Conversational Czech and English

Nice to have

• You can work part of the week onsite in Prague and don't mind working at a client's office
• You know Kotlin (or want to learn it)
• You have experience with React or Next.js
• You know messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ) or DevOps tools (Kubernetes, Jenkins)
• You have experience in the financial sector
• You actively use AI tools in your workflow

In Prague we currently work from a coworking space — our own Prague office is in the works.
