Ondra, could you introduce us to the sMontáží project?

sMontáží is a service that connects online shops, customers, and vetted tradespeople to provide professional installation of technical equipment. Customers can book an installation while buying the product, saving time and avoiding the hassle of finding an available tradesperson. We work with experienced technicians across different fields to ensure a quick, high-quality installation without unnecessary complications.

The whole process is digital and designed to be convenient: customers choose a time, provide the necessary details, and we take care of the rest. Installation is coordinated with product delivery, and some services also include environmentally responsible disposal of the old equipment. We work with partners in heating, renovation, and other technical installation services. Our goal is to offer a reliable solution to anyone who would rather not install something themselves or wants the peace of mind of a professional job.

Who is the system for?

The software is designed for online shops and suppliers that want to add value for their customers with a complete service, from purchase to professional installation. By connecting them with vetted tradespeople, the system makes the whole process easier, improves the customer experience, and saves time.

How large is the development team?

In the beginning, development of sMontáží was fairly flexible. Over time, several people contributed when they were not fully allocated to a particular customer project. The team changed as the product developed, and about ten developers worked on it in total. Several external collaborators also helped with legal and marketing matters.

Many talented people have contributed over the years. Today, a few developers join the team whenever we need to build new features or fix something. Our main focus right now is integrating and launching the system in our own environment at www.smontazi.cz.

How long have you been working on the project?

We have been working on it for quite some time, but the actual development timeline depended heavily on the capacity available at each point. As the team changed, we adjusted the pace of development to match what was possible.

Which technologies do you use?

The main technologies we use are React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Node.js. We are also planning for integrations with other platforms built using different technologies, such as other JavaScript frameworks or PHP, depending on each project’s requirements.

We are fortunate to have many talented developers around us who work with these technologies. That gives us plenty of options and experience to draw on when solving different technical challenges.

What do you consider the biggest challenge?

The biggest challenge is balancing the technical side of the project with the real needs of customers and partners. We want to build a system that is not only technologically advanced and scalable, but also as user-friendly as possible and easy to integrate with different e-commerce platforms. That takes continuous process improvements, listening to feedback, and adapting to a changing market.

What do you enjoy most about this project?

It is great to see our work turn into something real and to see how every small step we take moves the whole project forward.
